This project proposes a 4-story corporate headquarters on Main Street in Walnut Creek, CA. The ground floor includes a welcoming cafe and automated parking access; the middle two floors offer office space for 80 employees; and the fourth floor provides a board room, an employee dining room, and an expansive roof terrace. A series of sculptural stairs carry through the building, knitting together the various programs.
The building is designed with an architecturally exposed structural steel skeleton and dowel-laminated timber panels on top of a concrete podium. Rhythmic glazing wrap the building, while carefully faceted piers and mullions control glare and solar heat gain.
