Private Residence
Manchester, CA
10,898 square feet
This project re-imagines this 250 acre landscape as a source of recreation, retreat and artistic expression. A cruciform strategy organizes the four primary structures on the site: the primary residence, secondary residence, barn and cabin, with each structure engaged with a different topographical feature.
Visual connection and physical integration with the landscape is carefully composed, as evidenced by the depression of the structures into the topography, presence of courtyards blurring the boundary between enclosed and open space, and orientation of buildings towards natural features and coastal views such as Point Arena and the lighthouse.
